Did you know you can get a SIP card in Spain if you live here?

APPLICATION FOR CONVENIO ESPECIAL FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

In the case you’re not covered by the Health System in your country of origin and you’ve been living in Spain for more than one year, you can apply to the Regional Government to issue a SIP card, with this you’ll be covered by the Spanish Health system, upon paying a monthly contribution.

REQUIREMENTS:

-You are not covered by the Medical Social Security system in your country of origin.

-You are living in Spain and registered on the ‘padron’ for at least one year prior to the application.

-You have your administrative residencia card in Spain.

MONTHY FEE:

-If you are over 65 years old: 157 Euros

-If you are under 65 years old: 60 Euros

DOCUMENTATION TO BE PROVIDED:

– Application form duly filled in and signed

– Sepa form duly filled in and signed

(Authorization for the direct debit payment from your Bank account)

– Passport copy

– Updated padron (less than 3 months)

– Residencia card copy

– Official Bank statements for a whole year for verification of you stay in Spain during the previous year.

– They can also request in some cases documentation to proof you are not covered by the Social Security System from your origin country.

TIME OF RESOLUTION:

It normally takes between 3 and 5 weeks. Once approved you will receive a letter and you will need to personally go to Alicante for your ‘identity verification’. They will then give you your new SIP cards.
