SGM Abogados and the Coronavirus Crisis

How does the Covid-19 pandemic here in Spain affect you?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) and SGM Abogados

Silvia and the SGM team would like to assure their clients that even though the office is closed they are still actively working from home and doing as much as possible to continue as normal assisting their clients.

If you are reading this there is a high possibility that you are one of SGM’s clients. If you are not, welcome. As a valued member of our SGM family or new to us we have published this page to try and keep you updated of the latest restrictions we face here in Spain.

Below we outline some of the imposed government restrictions which affect us all.

  • SGM Abogados will be working as normal as possible. The office is closed for the immediate future due to the Government restrictions and the limitation of movement. We are still however here to answer your calls and emails.
  • NIE Numbers and Residencia applications have been suspended. Many of our clients have given SGM Abogados ‘Power of Attorney’ to carry out paperwork and completions without the need for them to be in Spain. If you’re not one of these clients and still need certain documents it might still be possible for you to give the ‘Power’ in your home countries. You will need to visit the Spanish Embassy nearest to you or a public notary. We do however recommend you call first to assure you can get an appointment in these troubled times. If this is not possible please don’t worry as in time we will all be back on track and up to speed.
  • Notaries will be open for ‘urgent’ appointments ONLY. In the event of clients that have imminent and upcoming completions these will be put on hold until the government lifts the restrictions which we hope is very soon.
  • Banks are still open and operating behind the scenes as normal as they can, there is however a different protocol to normal and procedures will vary from bank to bank. Each bank has imposed a limited amount of patrons that can enter the bank at any given time. Our advice is whatever you need from your bank contact them ahead of your journey and inform them what you need and when you expect to arrive. Alternatively you can contact us on info@sgmlegalspain.com and we will assist you as much as we can.
  • Finally we ask all of our clients not to panic. This Covid-19 pandemic is global and we all have to wait this out until the restrictions are lifted. Our team here at SGM Abogados are here to help and reassure you that our primary goal is the needs of our clients.
