If you are flying to or from Spain this summer… pay attention.
Several airport and airline strikes have already caused disruption across Spain in 2026, including Alicante Airport.
And although some strikes were temporarily suspended after negotiations… unions are warning more action could return if agreements fail.
What’s actually being affected?
❌ Baggage handling
❌ Check-in services
❌ Boarding operations
❌ Delays and cancellations
❌ Long queues at Alicante Airport
The biggest disputes involve ground handling companies working with major airlines across Spain.
And Alicante is one of the airports most exposed because of the huge volume of international tourism and expat travel.
The reality?
Spanish airports are still operating.
But many passengers are reporting:
⚠️ delayed luggage
⚠️ missed connections
⚠️ airport queues
⚠️ last-minute disruption
If you are travelling this summer:
✔️ arrive earlier than normal
✔️ travel with essentials in hand luggage
✔️ check airline updates constantly
✔️ prepare for delays during peak dates
Spain’s tourism industry is booming again…
but the pressure on airports and staff is growing fast.
