In Spain, Christmas is celebrated on DECEMBER 24, which is called NOCHEBUENA, and on December 25, which is CHRISTMAS day.

At any table, on Christmas Eve there is no lack of suckling pig, fish, prawns, good wine and typical desserts of our province, mantecados, marzipan, and of course the sweet king of our province of Alicante, the turrón from Jijona.

Jijona is a city in the community of Valencia, located about 25 kilometers from Alicante. It is the world capital of Nougat and the cradle of the famous soft nougat from Xixona made with sugar, honey and almonds.

In Alcoy, another town that must be visited, the Christmas tradition is deeply rooted, since the city organizes the oldest Three Wise Men parade in Spain (and in the world) and its origin dates back to 1866.
