Why Choose the Costa Blanca?
Is it the food, the sun, the prices or maybe the Fiestas?
Why choose Costa Blanca? Its local festivals that’s such a great tradition, a festive province par excellence, there is no corner or population, no matter how small, that does not celebrate a festival with its own idiosyncrasies.
The Moors and Christians festivities certainly is the highlight, a tradition spread throughout the Costa Blanca since the 16th century and which has its greatest spectacles in Alcoy, Villajoyosa and Crevillente, towns where this festival has been declared of International Tourist Interest.
The cult of fire is evident with the celebration of the Bonfires of San Juan de Alicante, also recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, which each year attract thousands of visitors who enjoy the monuments that are planted in the city until the cream in the night of San Juan.
And more fire with the rockets from the Nit del Alba, which every August paint the sky of Elche in colour. Continuing in the city of palm trees, attending a representation of the Misteri d’Elx, a World Heritage Site, constitutes one of the most particular experiences of the province’s celebrations. The sky of Altea is also illuminated in August with the traditional Castell de l’Olla.
