How to Stop Spam Calls FOREVER !

Don't answer or block the number: Here's what you should do to end spam calls forever. OCU warns that the law regulating these calls is "insufficient." Spam calls can be highly annoying. They regularly clutter our call logs to the point of confusing them with genuinely important calls.

The worst part of commercial calls is that some are scams, employing strategies that can be highly effective. One such scam is the “missed call” fraud, involving calling and quickly hanging up. If the recipient decides to return the call, they might be connecting to a high-tariff number.

Laws to curb spam calls To address the issue of spam calls, a law came into effect in 2023 requiring companies to obtain explicit user consent before making such calls. However, in 2024, the OCU (Organization of Consumers and Users) stated that the regulation was “insufficient.”

One of the weak points of this law is that it only applies to calls made by human operators, exempting those generated by automatic dialing systems.

An additional measure was introduced last February, prohibiting commercial calls from mobile numbers. Furthermore, phone companies are now required to block suspicious calls and text messages suspected of fraud.

How to avoid these calls? The laws implemented so far haven’t succeeded in completely stopping unwanted calls. Therefore, some tips remain helpful. Firstly, it’s crucial not to immediately hang up upon recognizing a spam call.

If the call is terminated abruptly, automatic systems may interpret this as the user being unavailable, prompting them to call back at another time. The best strategy is clearly stating that we aren’t interested in the offer.

Finally, avoiding giving out personal information is essential. If scammers or companies lack our personal details, it’s more difficult for them to add us to other contact lists. Additionally, providing personal information can lead to serious issues if the call is a scam.

Another important point is avoiding responding to questions, as answering them could indicate interest, extending the conversation duration and likely increasing the chances of receiving more spam calls in the future.
