Alicante Hogueras 2025 New Fireworks Location
đ„ Alicante Hogueras 2025: New Fireworks Location Announced
As we approach the much-anticipated Hogueras de San Juan festivities in Alicante, the City Council has announced a key change that will impact both residents and visitors: a new location for the iconic “Fuegos de CocĂł” fireworks display.
đ New Location: Playa del Postiguet
The traditional fireworksâknown for lighting up the sky every night from June 25 to 29âwill no longer be launched from Playa del CocĂł. Instead, the display will move to a barge anchored offshore of Playa del Postiguet, a central and emblematic beach in Alicante.
This change, promoted by the Department of Fiestas in coordination with the Local Police and Fire Department, aims to enhance safety and improve the viewing experience, allowing the fireworks to be seen from a wider area of the city.
đ Why the Change?
According to municipal sources, the decision was made due to technical and safety requirements. The new barge-based launching point ensures:
Greater visibility from more parts of the coast
Reduced risk to nearby structures and spectators
Easier coordination with emergency services and crowd control units
đ Key Details
Dates: June 25 to 29, 2025
Time: Approximately 12:00 AM (midnight)
New Location: Offshore, in front of Playa del Postiguet
Access: Public viewing from the beach and nearby promenades
đïž Impact on Residents and Businesses
At SGM Abogados, we advise residents and local business owners to prepare for:
Changes in traffic and parking regulations near the Postiguet area
Increased tourist footfall and late-night activity
Excessive noise levels during the fireworks timeframe
We recommend checking with the local town hall closer to the date for official updates and safety instructions.
The Fuegos de Hogueras: A Blazing Tradition in Alicante
Every June, Alicante bursts into color, music, and fire with the Fuegos de Hogueras de San Juanâa spectacular celebration that marks the arrival of summer and honors San Juan (St. John the Baptist).
The tradition dates back to 1928, when local artist JosĂ© MarĂa Py promoted the idea of creating large artistic bonfires, inspired by the Valencian Fallas, but with a coastal twist. The concept was to burn away the old and welcome the new, using fire as a symbol of purification and renewal.
The festival has since grown into one of the most important events in the city, featuring:
đ„ Enormous paper-mĂąchĂ© sculptures (hogueras) displayed across the city
đ Nightly fireworks shows, especially the famous “Fuegos Artificiales” on the Postiguet Beach
đ Street parades, traditional costumes, music bands, and dance
đ„ The dramatic “CremĂ ” on June 24th, where all the monuments are set ablaze
The Fuegos de Hogueras are more than just a partyâthey’re a deeply rooted cultural event that unites locals and visitors in a fiery celebration of identity, creativity, and summer joy.
Letâs celebrate the Hogueras safely and joyfully!
