Over 9.1 Million International Tourists Visited Spain in July of This Year.
The number means that the country has marked a recovery of 92 per cent of the arrivals in the same month of 2019, and the collected money from these tourists represents -0.6 per cent of July spending in 2019.
“These extraordinary data confirm our forecasts that in 2022 we would already experience a summer like the ones before, despite the challenge represented by the current inflation context. In addition to the recovery of our main European markets, we add the growth in arrivals from the US, a market that is also approaching pre-pandemic figures,” .
The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, pointed out in this regard.
INE also reveals that in the accumulated figure for the year, arrivals in July exceeded 39 million, and expenses reached €47,637 million.
“The United Kingdom was the main source market with 1.9 million tourists (88 per cent of those who came in July 2019); followed by France, with more than 1.4 million (98 per cent compared to 2019) and Germany, with about 1.1 million, representing 88 per cent of those who arrived in the pre-pandemic,”
Additionally, compared to the pre-pandemic period, several markets have been sending more tourists to Spain, including:
The Netherlands came in at 556,650, or +9.5%
With 418,309 or +8.6% from Belgium
Portugal had 301,749 or a 17.6% increase.
When comparing these figures to those from other countries, the strong performance of USA stands out since it exported 361,498 tourists, or 85% of all visitors in July 2019, which is an excellent result.
The Balearic Islands are the top vacation spot for visitors from abroad in July. As a result, the islands attracted about 2.3 million tourists, mostly British and German, accounting for one in four visitors to Spain.
In comparison to 2019, The Balearic Islands reached 97% more than in 2019.

French and other European nationals frequently select Catalonia for their holiday.
