2025 Income Tax Deadlines in Spain

Tax Calendar Alert from SGM Abogados: Your Essential Tax Deadlines for 2025 in Spain

At SGM Abogados, we understand that staying on top of tax deadlines is crucial for everyone living or operating in Spain—residents, non-residents, employees, the self-employed, property landlords, and retirees. We’ve outlined the key dates you need to mark on your calendar for 2025.

For Residents: Ensure you submit your annual declaración de Renta income tax return by June 30th, 2025. This is mandatory for all residents who earn more than €22,000 from a single source or over €15,000 from multiple sources. Self-employed individuals must file regardless of income, as must those marking their first year in Spain.

For the Self-Employed: Prepare to meet multiple tax deadlines throughout the year. You will need to file taxes quarterly, in addition to the annual income declaration by the end of June. Key dates include:

  • June 30th for income from the previous year’s fourth quarter.
  • April 22nd for the first quarter’s income.
  • July 22nd for the second quarter.
  • October 21st for the third quarter. Employee personal income tax withholdings are due on the 20th of the months noted.

For Non-Residents: Submit your annual declarations for income earned in Spain during 2024 by December 31st, 2025.

For Landlords: Report income from rentals quarterly with deadlines on January 20th, April 20th, July 20th, and October 20th.

Property Owners: Be aware of your local IBI tax or impuesto sobre bienes inmuebles due dates, which vary by municipality. This property tax bill is typically mailed to you.

For Those with Overseas Assets: If you hold over €50,000 in foreign bank accounts or assets as of December 31st, 2024, you must file the Modelo 720 by March 31st, 2025. This form is not an annual requirement unless there are significant changes to your financial situation.

Please note that deadlines for VAT declarations typically occur a few days after the dates listed, and your gestor may set earlier internal deadlines to ensure timely submission.
